Our Legal Team: complete guide
Introduction
Behind every filing, agreement and consultation on Legal Filing India is a team of qualified professionals. Our legal team brings together advocates, chartered accountants and company secretaries, each working in the area where their training and experience are most relevant. Advocates handle legal drafting, notices, disputes and advice on rights and obligations. Chartered accountants handle income tax, GST, TDS, accounting and audit-related work. Company secretaries handle company law and LLP compliance, incorporations, corporate changes and secretarial matters. Together, they cover the wide range of legal, tax and compliance needs that individuals and businesses face in India.
Each of these professions is regulated in India. Advocates are enrolled with a State Bar Council under the Advocates Act, 1961, and are bound by the rules of professional conduct framed by the Bar Council of India. Chartered accountants are members of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India under the Chartered Accountants Act, 1949. Company secretaries are members of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India under the Company Secretaries Act, 1980. Each body sets standards of professional conduct and continuing education for its members. Some types of work, such as certifying certain company forms, signing tax audit reports or appearing in court, can only be done by members of the relevant profession.
We believe that clients are better served when the right professional handles each part of their matter. A trademark objection is most effectively answered by someone who works on trademark law regularly. A GST notice is most effectively handled by a chartered accountant who understands both the law and the accounting behind it. A board resolution for a change in share capital is most effectively prepared by a company secretary. Many matters involve more than one discipline, and our team works together so that clients do not have to coordinate between separate advisers.
This page explains what our legal team does, how we assign and review work, the kinds of clients we help and the standards we hold ourselves to. We do not list individual names or profiles on this page. When you engage us, you will be told who is handling your matter and how to reach them.
Why the mix of professions matters. Indian law often splits a single business event across several regulators. Allotting shares to a foreign investor, for example, involves company law filings with the Registrar, reporting under foreign exchange rules, stamp duty on share certificates, valuation questions and changes to the shareholders agreement. A property purchase involves title verification, stamp duty and registration, and tax deduction at source on the payment in many cases. Having advocates, chartered accountants and company secretaries in one team means each part of such a matter is looked at by someone who knows it well, and the pieces fit together.
What We Do
Legal advice and consultations. Our advocates advise individuals and businesses on contracts, property, consumer matters, family matters, employment issues, recovery of dues, cheque bounce matters and the options available in a dispute. Clients can book a consultation to discuss a specific question.
Drafting and review of legal documents. We draft and review agreements and documents such as founders agreements, shareholders agreements, non-disclosure agreements, employment and consultancy agreements, vendor and service agreements, franchise and joint venture agreements, terms of service, rental agreements, sale deeds, powers of attorney and wills.
Legal notices and replies. We prepare legal notices for recovery of money, breach of contract, cheque dishonour under section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881, consumer grievances and other matters, and help clients reply to notices they have received.
Intellectual property. Our IP practitioners handle trademark searches, applications, examination report replies, oppositions, renewals and assignments, along with copyright and design registrations, patent searches and support on infringement matters.
Company law and corporate compliance. Our company secretaries handle incorporation of companies and LLPs, annual filings, board and general meeting documentation, changes in directors, capital and registered office, conversions between structures, closure of entities and responses to notices from the Registrar of Companies.
Tax and accounting. Our chartered accountants handle income tax returns, GST registration and returns, TDS returns, responses to tax notices, tax advisory, bookkeeping, accounting and audit support.
NGO and non-profit matters. Our team assists with registration of trusts, societies and Section 8 companies, applications for registration under sections 12A and 80G of the Income Tax Act, and ongoing compliance.
Specialised legal areas. For matters in areas such as criminal law, family and divorce law, labour law, banking law, consumer litigation, immigration, technology and media law, and regulatory risk, we connect clients with advocates who work in that area. The scope, approach and fee for such matters are discussed directly with the client before any work begins.
Examples of how the team handles a matter. A small business that has received a GST notice alleging excess input tax credit would have a chartered accountant reconcile the returns and books and prepare the reply, with an advocate reviewing the legal grounds if the matter is likely to go to appeal. A startup raising its first round would have a company secretary manage the allotment filings and registers, an advocate review the term sheet and shareholders agreement, and a chartered accountant advise on valuation and tax. A brand owner whose trademark faces opposition would have an IP practitioner prepare the counter-statement and evidence, and advise on settlement options where appropriate.
How We Work
- Understanding the matter. We start by listening to the client and reviewing the documents shared. This helps us identify the legal issues and which professional is most suitable.
- Assigning the right professional. Each matter is assigned to a team member with relevant qualifications and experience. Matters that involve more than one area, such as a business closure that has company law and tax aspects, are handled jointly.
- Clear scope and engagement. We confirm with the client what we will do, the expected timeline and the fee, so expectations are set at the start.
- Research and preparation. The assigned professional checks the current law, rules, notifications and relevant procedure, and prepares the advice, draft or filing.
- Internal review. Important documents and filings are reviewed before they are shared or submitted. This second look helps catch errors and gaps.
- Client review. Drafts are shared with the client, explained where needed and revised based on feedback.
- Filing or delivery. Once the client approves, we file the document or deliver the final version.
- Follow-up. We track the matter, respond to queries from authorities and keep the client informed.
Professional conduct. Our team follows the professional standards that apply to their respective professions, including duties of confidentiality and the avoidance of conflicts of interest. Before taking on a matter, we check that we are not acting for an opposing party.
Limits of our role. Advice is based on the facts and documents the client provides and on the law as it stands at the time. Decisions on applications, notices and disputes rest with the relevant authority or court. We explain the likely range of outcomes, but we do not promise a particular result.
Keeping knowledge current. The law in India changes through legislation, rules, notifications, circulars and court judgments. Our team follows these developments and checks the current position at the time of advising or filing.
Working with your existing advisers. Many clients already have an auditor, a family lawyer or an in-house team. We are happy to work alongside them, share drafts and coordinate on filings, so that the client receives one consistent approach.
Documentation and records. We keep a record of the advice given, the documents filed and the correspondence with authorities for each matter. This helps if a question comes up later, such as during an assessment, due diligence or a dispute, and makes it easier for any professional to pick up the matter with full context.

Our Commitments
Qualified professionals. Work is handled or reviewed by advocates, chartered accountants and company secretaries, as appropriate to the matter.
Right person for the work. We assign matters based on the area of law involved, not simply on availability.
Confidentiality. Client information is kept confidential and used only for the matter on which we are engaged.
Conflict checks. We check for conflicts of interest before accepting a matter.
Plain-language advice. We explain the law and the options in simple terms, so clients can make informed decisions.
Honesty. We tell clients when a matter is weak, when risks are significant, or when another route may be more suitable.
No outcome promises. We prepare each matter carefully, but we do not promise results that depend on an authority or court.
Timely communication. We respond to client queries promptly and keep clients informed at each stage.
Respect for deadlines. Court dates, notice reply windows and statutory due dates are tracked for each matter, and we tell clients early if anything we need from them could put a deadline at risk.
Clear fees. The fee for each matter is agreed before work begins. If the scope changes, we discuss any change in fee with the client first.
FAQs
Who is on your legal team?
Our legal team is made up of advocates, chartered accountants and company secretaries, supported by operations staff. Each professional works in the areas where their qualifications are relevant.
What is the difference between an advocate, a CA and a CS?
An advocate is enrolled with a Bar Council and can advise on law, draft legal documents and appear before courts. A chartered accountant specialises in accounting, audit and tax. A company secretary specialises in company law, corporate governance and secretarial compliance. Many matters need more than one of them.
Will I know who is handling my matter?
Yes. When you engage us, we tell you which professional is handling your matter and how to communicate with them.
Are your advocates enrolled with a Bar Council?
Yes. Advocates who handle legal work are enrolled with a State Bar Council as required under the Advocates Act, 1961.
Do your chartered accountants and company secretaries hold practising certificates?
Work that the law requires to be certified by a practising professional, such as certain company forms or tax audit reports, is handled by members who hold the necessary certificate of practice.
Can your lawyers represent me in court?
For matters that need court representation, we connect you with advocates who appear in that forum and area of law. The scope and fees for representation are agreed separately before work begins.
Can I choose a specific professional?
If you have worked with a particular team member before, you can ask for them, and we will try to accommodate this subject to availability and the nature of the matter.
How do you handle conflicts of interest?
Before taking on a matter, we check whether we act or have acted for an opposing party. If there is a conflict, we will let you know and decline the matter.
Is what I tell your team kept confidential?
Yes. Information you share is kept confidential. Advocates are also bound by professional rules on client confidentiality.
What areas of law does your team cover?
Our team covers business and corporate law, tax, intellectual property, contracts and documentation, property and personal matters, and non-profit law. For specialised areas such as criminal, family, labour and banking law, we connect clients with advocates who handle those matters.
Can your team give a written legal opinion?
Yes, where the matter calls for it. A written opinion is a separate service with its own scope and fee, which we confirm with you before starting.
Do you handle matters outside my city or state?
Yes. Most advisory, drafting and filing work can be handled online for clients anywhere in India. Where a matter needs appearance before a local court or authority, we explain how that can be arranged.
What should I prepare before speaking with the team?
A short written summary of the facts, the key dates, any deadline you are facing, and copies of relevant documents such as notices, agreements, registration certificates or correspondence. This lets the professional give specific advice from the first conversation. If documents are in a regional language, share them as they are and let us know, so we can plan for translation where needed.
What if I disagree with the advice I receive?
You are welcome to ask questions or request a second look. We will explain the reasoning behind the advice and, where useful, have another team member review the matter.
Does your team keep up with changes in the law?
Yes. Our professionals follow legislative changes, notifications, circulars and important court judgments in their areas, and check the current position at the time of advising or filing.
How do I speak with a member of the legal team?
You can book a consultation through the relevant service page or use the contact form to describe your matter. We will connect you with the appropriate professional.
