Tax & Compliance: complete guide
Introduction
Registering a business is only the beginning. From the day a company, LLP, partnership or proprietorship starts operating, it takes on a steady stream of legal, tax and regulatory obligations. Income tax returns, GST returns, TDS statements, annual filings with the Registrar of Companies, payroll and labour law registrations, and changes to the business structure all have their own forms, deadlines and consequences for getting them wrong. Missing a deadline can mean late fees, interest, penalties, notices and, in some cases, disqualification of directors or cancellation of registrations.
Our Tax & Compliance services are designed to take this load off business owners and individuals. They cover four broad areas. The first is tax: income tax returns, GST registration, returns and advisory, TDS, indirect tax and responses to notices. The second is corporate and LLP compliance: annual filings, secretarial audit, due diligence and the many event-based changes a business goes through, such as adding or removing directors, changing the name or address, or increasing capital. The third is conversions and closures, such as converting a partnership into an LLP, a proprietorship into a company, a private company into a one person company or a public company, and closing a company or LLP. The fourth is employment and regulatory compliance: payroll, provident fund, ESI, professional tax, shops and establishments licences, POSH compliance, ESOPs, RBI compliance for foreign investment and export incentives under RoDTEP.
Indian compliance is detailed and changes often. The Income-tax Act, GST laws, the Companies Act, 2013, the Limited Liability Partnership Act, 2008, labour laws and foreign exchange rules are all amended regularly through notifications, circulars and new forms. A filing that was correct last year may be incomplete this year. Our team of chartered accountants, company secretaries and advocates tracks these changes and checks the current requirements at the time of each filing.
Professional support matters because compliance is not only about filling in forms. It is about understanding which obligations apply to your business, planning ahead so that deadlines are met, keeping records that will stand up to scrutiny, and responding properly when the department asks questions. This page gives an overview of every service in this category, who they are for, how to choose the right one, how we work and how our pricing is structured.

How to Choose the Right Service
The right service depends on where your business is and what has changed. A few practical pointers:
- If you are newly registered, start with the registrations that apply to you, such as GST, professional tax, shops and establishments, PF or ESI, and set up book-keeping from the first month.
- If you file returns regularly, choose ongoing services such as GST return filing, TDS return filing, accounting and payroll, so deadlines are tracked for you.
- If you run a company or LLP, an annual compliance package is usually the simplest way to keep up with Registrar filings, meetings and director KYC.
- If something in your business is changing, such as directors, partners, name, address, objects or capital, choose the specific event-based service. Most of these changes have strict filing deadlines.
- If you are changing your structure, look at the conversion services, and speak to us first about tax and stamp duty implications.
- If you have received a notice, contact us promptly. Notices have response deadlines, and a missed deadline can lead to an adverse order.
- If you are unsure, book a consultation. We review your situation and recommend only the services you need.
How We Work
- Understanding your needs. We start with a short consultation to understand your business, your current compliance status and any deadlines.
- Clear scope and quote. We confirm which services apply, what is included, what you need to provide and our professional fee before we begin.
- Document collection. We share a checklist and collect documents through a secure process. Our team reviews them for gaps and inconsistencies.
- Preparation and review. We prepare the filing, return, reply or document, and a second member of our team reviews it before it is finalised.
- Your approval. We share drafts and computations with you and explain them before filing.
- Filing and follow-up. We file on the relevant government portal, pay government fees or taxes from your account at actual as instructed, and track the status until it is accepted or approved.
- Records and reminders. We share acknowledgements and copies, and for ongoing services, we send reminders for upcoming deadlines and documents.
Laws and procedures change from time to time. We check the current requirements at the time of each filing.
Pricing
Each service in this category has its own professional fee, shown on that service's page. Pricing works in a few different ways depending on the nature of the service:
- One-time services, such as registrations, changes to a company or LLP, conversions and closures, have a fixed professional fee for the defined scope.
- Recurring services, such as accounting, payroll, GST return filing and TDS return filing, are priced per month or per quarter.
- Annual compliance packages for companies and LLPs are priced per year.
- Custom-priced services, such as due diligence, indirect tax matters, RBI compliance, RoDTEP and conversion to a public company, are quoted after we review your situation, since the work depends on the size and complexity of the matter.
Government fees, stamp duty, taxes, interest and late fees are not part of our professional fee and are payable at actual. Our quote always tells you clearly what is included and what is not, before work begins.
FAQs
Which compliance services does a new private limited company need?
A new company typically needs book-keeping, GST registration and returns if applicable, TDS compliance if it makes specified payments, annual Registrar filings, board meetings and income tax returns. Payroll registrations apply once it hires employees.
Do I need an annual compliance package if my company has no business?
Yes. Annual filings with the Registrar and income tax returns are generally required even if the company has had no business. If you do not plan to use the company, closing it or applying for dormant status may be worth considering.
Can you handle compliance for businesses in any state?
Yes. Most filings are done online through central portals. For state-level registrations such as professional tax and shops and establishments, we follow the law and procedure of the relevant state.
What happens if I have missed past filings?
Most missed filings can still be completed with late fees, interest or penalties. In some cases, condonation or compounding may be needed. We review your filing history and suggest a plan to bring you up to date.
How do I know which GST service I need?
GST registration is for getting a GSTIN. GST return filing is for the periodic returns once registered. GST advisory is for specific questions or planning. Indirect tax covers wider matters, such as disputes, refunds and appeals.
What is the difference between adding a director and adding a designated partner?
Adding a director applies to companies under the Companies Act, 2013. Adding a designated partner applies to LLPs under the LLP Act, 2008. The documents and forms are different.
Can I close my company if it has pending filings?
Usually, pending financial statements and annual returns must be filed before applying for strike-off. We check your status and handle the pending filings as part of the closure.
Do you represent clients before tax authorities?
Yes. For income tax notices, GST matters and indirect tax disputes, our team prepares replies and can represent you before the department as permitted.
